After nearly 20 years of driving Subaru's, my patience is beginning to wear thin.

I rebuilt a DOHC EJ series engine. The SOHC are much easier to work on, but I have to say, once you pull them out of the car, they're really nice to work on... which you'll be doing a lot.

this little 1.8 beastie is a SOHC non-interference even, she was old and simple, and got near 30mpgs average. I miss her.

Yup. My bro-in-law has flipped several Subarus for the price of a head gasket and some hours labor.

After doing a few of them, you can do both sides in a weekend, if you've got another set of hands helping, and if the heads don't need planed.
It's a love/hate thing with these cars. :D

yeah - this is his driveway. Most of those were picked up for a few hundred $ or just left at the local garage with shot gaskets. That's a Brat under the cover, there's a 2nd one in the garage.

I've only had them for two years now. This is currently the state of my saabaru. The motor is behind me in this picture....

My co-worker inherited her brother's STi. I can always tell when she's in the parking garage.

It's so distinct, yet great sounding. Surprised no other manufacturer has copied it.
